How does the screencast or animation video fit within my minicourse?
Last week I created a screencast video that you can watch here. This week, I decided to create an animation video to support the minicourse about Small Group Instruction in Elementary classrooms.
One of the Course Learning Outcomes (CLO) is to Collaborate to discuss data results and aligned instruction (CLO). The homeroom teacher will need to collaborate with the Instructional Coach, Special Education teacher and Paraprofessional in order to support all her students’ needs.
I created a brief video with different characters to recreate a real-life scenario for Elementary teachers.
What are your thoughts on meeting accessibility standards?
I used alignment and repetition, using the same fonts and sizes for each text box.
Since the video is hosted in my YouTube channel, I edited the subtitles on that platform to be accurate with the content.
Reflect on the software program I used to create the animation video
After considering different software tools, I used the Voomly Cloud option to access Toonly, an easy software to create animation videos with different characters.
At the beginning I tried to incorporate the dialog on the screen, but the text options are very limited. I finally used Talkia to generate text-to-speech for the different characters. Both softwares were easy to use, however I found Toonly very limited regarding backgrounds and characters options.
I would like to keep exploring the Voomly software options to create videos in the future.
