Course in Canvas for adult learners

Here you have a video explaining my most recent course in Canvas. You can take a look at the Instructional Design Document with all the components.

Bilingual course with Articulate Rise 360

I created this Early Childhood Education course for introducing Literacy in babies and preschoolers for Spanish speaking families.

  • Learning Gap: During the pandemic, preschool classes had to close for several months, so there were a need to continue the learning at home. For little kids that are not reading yet, the use of computers was not appropriate, so I had to be creative to think about activities to introduce Literacy in the daily routines of a family to avoid the excessive use of screens.
  • Target Audience: Adult caregivers of babies and children from 0 to 6 years old that are enrolled in any preschool or day care center.
  • Course Type and Modality: The course can be completed in less than 60 minutes. It is intended to be online and asynchronous.
  • Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Module Learning Objectives (MLOs): I used Bloom’s Taxonomy to define and create objectives:
    • After the completion of the course, the learners will be able to:
      • Explain at what age is more appropriate to introduce letters (CLO1)
        • Identify the Literacy milestones at 3, 4 and 5 years (MLO1)
      • Use specific activities to introduce Literacy in babies and children (CLO2)
        • Identify what activities are more appropriate to introduce Literacy with kids at home (MLO1)
        • Create a routine to introduce Literacy in babies (MLO2)
      • Describe the skills required before learning to read and write (CLO3)
        • Recognize different activities to promote fine motor skills as a pre-requisite to write (MLO1)

  • Instructional Design Model Approach: I used the Rapid Instructional Design Approach to reduce the time of the process but still create an effective learning experience. II used Articulate 360 to design three lessons and a Quizz. I rolled out the first three lessons but the whole course is intended to include up to 8-10 lessons. First, I analyze the learning need and objectives. Then, I design and plan the content, creating my first prototype using the Authoring tool, Articulate 360. Once the course is deployed to the target audience, feedback will be collected to align and create the rest of the lessons.
  • Learning Activities: Articulate 360 allows to incorporate a variate of interactive activities to engage the learner. Based on the content, I incorporated interactive flash cards, role-playing scenario, knowledge check during the lessons and a final Cuestionare to evaluate the learning at the end of the course.
  • Learning Theory: Andragogy and Cognitivism were the main theories applied in this course. The adult learners will benefit of a real-world approach with an active role in their learning due to its interactivity.

Interactive E-learning Module with Articulate Storyline

While I was completing the Master in Instructional Design by Maryland University, one of the assignments was to create an interactive module using an Authoring tool. I decided to use Articulate Storyline and you can check all the learning process here.

This is the final result:

Project Manager presentations using Google Slides

I have more than 8 years of experience using Google Suite: Slides, Docs, Spreadsheets, Keep, Drive, Gmail, etc. In particular, I have been using Google Slides to create some of the Professional Development for adult learners.

Here is one example of a presentation that I created as part of the Project Manager Certificate by Google:

Small Group Instruction course prototype

As part of my job as Instructional Coach, I design and facilitate Professional Development for adult learners. Here is the first prototype that I created for Elementary teachers to fill a learning gap in instruction that was noticed after a Data analysis.

Website and Interactive Map

As part of the wrap-around services and onboarding actions, I design and manage the website of the International Educator Institute in Google Sites. I included different resources answering the onboarding needs of international professionals for their arrival to the US.

In addition, I created an interactive map using Google Maps with different layers, being able to see the different locations of the international educators in the school district.

This tool is currently used by leaders and user in all the school disctrict.

Blogger and Social Media

I am the owner of the website Pegotetes, a personal project about Education and Parenting that I started in 2020 about content relevant for families of little children and teachers.

I have experience writing articles, collaborating with different companies, creating posts in Social Media (Facebook and Instagram) and writing newsletters to my subscribers regularly.

Pegotetes gave me the opportunity to have experience in marketing and networking. My website is increasing the visits every month and is intended to keep growing in the next few years.

YouTube Channel

One of my passions as an Instructional Designer is to create learning videos and play with different video editing tools. Check my YouTube channel to watch videos created with Camtasia, Loom, Screencastify, Canva and so many more!
