How does the interactive module fit within the minicourse?
I designed and developed part of the Module 3 that aligns with the Course Learning Objective 5 (CLO5):
- CLO5: Implement strategies to differentiate instruction based on the students’ needs.
- Module 3: Strategies for small group instruction. After the completion of this module, the educators will be able to:
- Apply the Peer evaluation strategy sharing an example in the online discussion and adding at least 2 comments to peers’ responses. (It aligns with CLO5)
The Module 3 includes an online discussion that it is not included in the Authoring tool used and it will be included once the learning experience is hosted in the LMS.
How the learner will interact with the e-learning and why?
The learner will have several opportunities to interact with the e-learning contect:
- Next button to move to the next slide.
- Audio clips available in each slide.
- Markers to expand the content.
- External link to video to complement the content.
- Knowledge Check with Drag and Drop activity.
- Survey to collect the learner’s feedback.
In addition, audio clips are included in each slide to facilitate the engagement with the learning content.
The purpose of the interactive features is to get the learner’s attention and engagement, giving him an active role instead of just being passive reading and listening to new knowledge.
My experience using Articulate Storyline
I used the Authoring tool Articulate Storyline. I already used Articulate Rise 360 creating a bilingual course for parent about Spanish Literacy and while I love how easy and portable was, as a designer, I was missing more freedom and creativity.
Articulate Storyline is a powerful tool for Instructional Designers. It is relatively easy to use, but you need experience and practice to discover all the different features. I really liked that characters and audio are included, so you do not need an external app to create those and then upload them. I struggled with the interactive components and quizzes features.
I will definitely keep exploring it since I really enjoy creating this module.
Next time, I would like to explore Adobe Captivate, another popular Authoring tool for Instructional Designers and compare it with Articulate Storyline.
